Photos Tell Stories.

First off, thank you for choosing to visit my site and read this. Normally and in the future, this space will be used to talk about the photo above and the story behind it a when, where, how and probably most important for me is why. Why even do this? My two biggest drivers and inspirations  would be my own grandfather and Vivian Mair.

My grandparents felt like they were always traveling the world and taking pictures. When they would visit, my grandpa would show us slides (this was the 1990s so actual slides in a projector) and tell us about his trips. Admittedly I do not remember how good the slides were or how well serrated the presentation was, but the combination of simultaneously adding mystery and demystifying really stuck with me, and hopefully I can replicate some of that for everyone.

Vivian Mair was a genius level talent, and if you don’t know about her work stop now and look it up. I want to be clear, I am not comparing my photography to her at all, that would be blasphemy. The story of her film being found after her death is what is inspiring me to share and  write about my photography. We can see the talent, but we only get to speculate as to her thoughts, feelings, and intent behind the literal piles of work. I don’t want that for myself, I would like some say in how and what is released while I can still control that. Thank you for being a part of that as well.

I appreciate the patience while I build this site and get myself out there, there will be changes and issues on the way but hey that’s life. Till next time.
